29 Mar Factors in Mattress Lifespan: Care, Pest Prevention, Warranty
In part one of this two-part blog series, we went over some factors that impact the lifespan of any mattress you own. From the materials used and the manufacturer to several others, there are a few different variables that will play a role in how long your mattress serves a useful lifespan.
At 2 Brothers Mattress, our range of mattresses runs from those under $600 all the way up to those costing $2,000 or more — and while cost is naturally a large factor in expected mattress lifespan, it’s not the only one. Today’s part two of our series will go over a few additional factors to keep in mind while you look to estimate the expected lifespan of your mattress.
Care and Maintenance
Your own use of the mattress will also play a major role in how long it lasts, particularly how you care for it over time. For instance, aeration of the mattress is important to its longevity, so make sure to rotate it regularly (at least every three months) and air it out for a few hours each month.
Another thing to keep in mind is that your bedding can also impact the lifespan of your mattress. The types of sheets, blankets, and pillows you use will all play a part in how the mattress wears over time. If you’re looking to keep your mattress in good condition for as long as possible, using high-quality bedding is a must.
Pest Prevention
Pest control is important throughout your home, and particularly in mattress areas. Not only are standard home pests a possible intruder here, but bed bugs and dust mites can be major problems as well. If you’re not vigilant about pest control in and around your mattress, you could see a decrease in the lifespan of your mattress.
Themes that can help protect your mattress from these risks include mattress encasements or proper sealing of the seams on your mattress and boxspring, as well as regular use of a quality vacuum cleaner (with a beater bar) to remove any pests or their eggs from the surface of your mattress.
Warranty
Finally, anyone purchasing a new mattress should also factor in the warranty offered by the manufacturer. A good warranty can give you some peace of mind, knowing that you have some protection against defects or other problems that may arise with the mattress over time.
There are warranties for mattresses offered by their manufacturers, plus sometimes warranties offered by mattress sales providers. Check into both before making your purchase to see what kind of coverage you might have.
At 2 Brothers Mattress, we pride ourselves on carrying mattresses from the best and most reliable brands in the business. We also offer a wide range of warranties to our customers to protect their investment. If you’re looking for a high-quality mattress that will last many years, contact our team today to learn more.
